transitioning into fall fashion!

Hey, everyone! Though my heart is already well-immersed in fall fashion, my body is unfortunately still living in unpredictable NC weather! So, I've had to come up with a style compromise: the clothes must be comfortable and practical for any of the elements that plan to make an appearance during the day, but I can begin to implement some fall-esque styles into my everyday outfits. YAY!

This outfit took me by surprise and has become one of my new favorites for this coming season. I have never tried out any sort of track pants, but let me tell you, these pants feel even softer than most of my pajamas!! They are so loose and breathable, while still maintaining an appropriate appearance. This short-sleeved, cream sweater was an ideal match with these pants because of its neutral color and bronze jewel accents. Lastly, the bronze loafers finished off the outfit by tying in the bronze from the bejeweled sweater.

Fall cannot come fast enough to satisfy my craving for snuggly sweaters, rich jewel tones, and boots! Use the hashtag, #poisedandpreppy, on Instagram to show me how you're transitioning into fall clothing! Also, let me know in the comments section what you are most looking forward to wearing during fall! Thank you all so much for taking time to read through today's blog post, and I hope that each of you has a fabulous day!

my fall fashion wish list!

Hello, everybody! With New York Fashion Week having just wrapped up, fashion has definitely been on the forefront of my brain. Even though NYFW featured many spring styles, it still inspired me to peruse my favorite sites online to see what was out there this season. And, as usual, they didn't disappoint ;)! Here's a list of my absolute favorite standout pieces for this fall!

These fabulous booties are the perfect mix of being chic and comfortable! They can be easily worn during everyday activities, while they also have the ability to be dressed up for a night out on the town! The scalloped edge makes my heart melt a little, and the rich, oak brown is very fall appropriate!!

2 // Cable Knit Fisherman Sweater

Even though I've never owned one, I am constantly riding myself drawn to these beautiful, cream, cable-knit sweaters! They add an unparalleled texture to any outfit, plus their warmth and coziness makes me yearn for them even more! LOVE!!!

I am actually IN LOVE with this high neck (but not turtleneck) sweater from Zara! The light, dove gray shade is so endearing, and the modern cut is appealing to the eye without being too futuristic. I also love the structure provided by the exposed seams because it keeps the sweater from being too oversized, which is very helpful for girls who are petite up top like myself.

Can we just take a moment to appreciate how absolutely breathtaking this Scandal clothing line from the Limited is?! I love that instead of just being based loosely around a character's style, this clothing line includes very close replicas of the same pieces Olivia Pope herself rocks on the daily. Each of these pieces is very fitting for the fall and winter seasons. I'm actually dying over the dolman wrap coat and the plaid cape... hey, OP, can you please hook me up??

Baublebar is killing it (as always) with their statement necklaces this season! They feature many different styles of jewelry on their site, which I actually love because I find myself drawn to pieces that I may or may not have looked into previously based on how they style them. I also love the Guest Bartender section of their website! While not everything is my cup of tea, I still love to see the Bartender's story and how their personality is reflected through the items they showcase. Above, I've featured my first ever BaubleBar necklace (via my Instagram picture), which I am so in love with!

. . .

And, that's a wrap, folks! Let me know in the comments section what fall fashion trends/items are on your must-have list for this season! I am loving hearing feedback from more and more of you, so please leave a quick message down below! Thank you so much for taking the time to check out my latest blog post, and I hope each and every one of you has a fabulous day!

summer style flashback: everyday wear!

Hello, everybody! Though I am dying to move onto fall fashion, I felt I would be remiss if I did not include a few of my everyday outfits from this past summer. I don't know about y'all, but here in NC, we still have not taken a chill pill yet (hahahahahaha, get it? ;) weather wise, so I'm still able to incorporate bits and pieces of looks like this to help me stay cool.

Both of these outfits are so me! A simple yet vibrant patterned top, solid, color-coordinated bottoms, comfy ballet flats, and elegant jewelry are the perfect formula for any outfit I concoct! The fun, printed tunic in the first outfit is so airy and comfortable to wear despite its more formal appearance. And, don't even get me started on the pleated, khaki shorts in second outfit! I love that they are a bit longer than most of my other shorts (they come about mid-thigh on me!) because sometimes, I just appreciate the extra coverage!

The first outfit was worn on Move In Day for the program I attended this past summer, and the second one was for an average day of classes. They were both easy to throw on and go (especially when you're always running late, like myself!). Both outfits are suitable for a variety of casual occasions and everyday chores.

Outfit #1:

Outfit #2:

. . .

I am loving this fun and colorful flashback to summer! What do you think: can we rock these bright colors and patterns throughout the fall and winter as well? Let me know in the comments, along with what you really wear during those hot and pesky summer days! Thanks for taking the time to read my latest blog post, and I hope that each and every one of you has an absolutely fabulous day!

summer style flashback: fourth of july!

Hey, everybody! Now, I know that the weather is varying greatly all over the United States (scorching hot in the Southwest, chilly in the Northeast, and ??? everywhere else!), but here in NC, the weather is still in the 70's, 80's, and even occasionally 90's, so this look is still wearable! I wore this outfit back during the summer for the Fourth of July, and loved that I got to incorporate some of my favorite pieces to make a very comfy and patriotic look!

The dual texture of the white lace top and the thick, linen striped shorts provided a nice visual contrast that dresses the look up a bit from your usual navy and white garb. The pop of red from this Southern Proper hat finishes it off nicely. Plus, I can't help but smile every time I see that adorable black and white embroidered dog! :)

I wore this outfit out to a cookout with family and friends, as well as an elaborate fireworks display, courtesy of my dad, brother, and friends. I can't say that we didn't end up with a firework or two on the roof, as they were having a few "test runs" before the show ;)! Regardless, we all ended up having a great time (and lots of food too!).

Top: Abercrombie and Fitch (old, but love this one!)
Shorts: J.Crew
Hat: Southern Proper (also available here!)
Watch: Michael Kors
Sandals: Target
Sunglasses: Toms
. . .

I'm finding myself wanting to break out this outfit again now! Let me know in the comments what look you rocked for the Fourth of July, as well as what you and your family did to celebrate our country's independence. Thank you so much for taking time to read over my latest blog post, and I hope you all have a fabulous day!

Summer Snooze?

.......

That's pretty much all you've been hearing from this side of the fence for the past couple of months. For me, this summer has been filled with such amazing experiences, many of which I have yet to share with you. However, the fast paced track of summer zoomed right on past, and in the blink of an eye, I haven't posted on my blog in two months. Whoops!

Despite this setback, I want to continue blogging. I have so enjoyed the experiences, opportunities, and interactions it has afforded me over the past (almost) year. I can't imagine stopping now when I have only just dabbled in the warm and inviting online blogging community. So, with that said, I am going to try to get back onto a semi-regular schedule for blog posts again! My goal is to post twice a week on Sunday and Wednesday. There might be an occasionally spontaneous post thrown into the mix, but seeing as I am still in school, I'm not making any promises! ;)

Even though I was not posting over this summer, I was taking pictures! So, over the next couple of weeks, you will see some summer style posts appear in addition to my fall fashion picks! I am so looking forward to being involved with blogging again, and can't wait to hear from y'all! Let me know in the comments section how your summer was and what you're looking forward to in fall! Thanks so much for taking the time to check out my latest post, and I hope each of you has a fabulous day!
